Leaving the hotel on the Costa del Sol, we take our clients all the way to Algeciras to depart for Tangier by catamaran. The crossing takes an hour and a half. (From Tarifa by catamaran it takes only 35 mins.) On arrival at the port coaches and guides await you to begin the tour of the city.
This visit comprises, firstly, a tour in which we go through the different quarters of the city: the Spanish, French, Italian and American, etc., and stopping once to take pictures of ourselves on camels, one of the more characteristic sights of this North African country.
After this we go to the grottos of Hercules where legend has it this mythical character separated Africa from Europe with his bare hands, one of Hercules’s pillars. Then we continue on to the Cape of Escartel, where the Atlantic Ocean meets the Mediterranean Sea.
Followed by accompanying our clients to Tangier city centre, starting at the Kashba, its narrow streets from where it is possible to see the Spanish coastline and also to visit the La Medina, an ancient Arab city, and el Zoco, a typical Tangier market-place, where they can shop for local crafts at a very good price and put into practice one of the oldest traditions on earth, “bartering”.
Ending the visit, clients are accompanied to Hammadi Restaurant, the best one in town, where they serve a typical lunch with a set menu of harira soup, skewered meat, cous-cous, mint tea and Moroccan pastries. All through the meal you will be entertained by Moroccan musicians and local folk-dancing.
At the end of the meal our clients will be taken back to Tangier port where they’ll take the catamaran back to Algeciras and then be returned to their hotel on the Costa del Sol.
